The Film & Television program’s longstanding sitcom Off Campus and news magazine DNews were both nominated for Mid-Atlantic National Association of Television Arts & Sciences awards. On October 13th at the local Emmy Gala, it was announce that Off Campus won its fourth NATAS award for episode eight. Off Campus has won three previous NATAS awards and DNews once, and episodes of Off Campus have aired three times on CBS’ The CW Philly 57 in addition to DUTV, the University’s television station. The latest episode of DNews is among our best yet. It features stories on Jake Tapper and the Dancing Monks of Assam's visits to campus, and a wonderful program of the A.J. Drexel Autism Institute. Off Campus is student produced and directed featuring a cast of professional actors. Something of a cross between Friends and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, the show is heading into its tenth season under the supervision of Professor Andrew Susskind. Students Melissa Tunstall, Director; Matt Hepworth, Director; Charmaine Cavan, Editor; Neal Strauss, Supervising Producer; Emily Deemer, Supervising Producer; Scott Flickstein, Director of Photography Sergio Galeano, Production Sound;K. Nicole Hornbeck, First AD; LeeAnn C. Ellison, Production Designer; and Rachel Kahn, Set Designer are nominees for the NATAS Award.

DNews, reporting on all things Drexel and in our City, received a NATAS Award nomination for the segment “Belen Maya: Flamenco Artist at Drexel University.”  Students Mike Marcucci, Reporter/Producer, and Tom Paolo, Photojournalist/Editor, are nominated for the NATAS Award, and they worked under the supervision of Professor Michelle McHugh. Stories for DNews are selected, produced, shot, edited and presented by undergraduate students from the Department of Cinema & Television working with students from across the University.
